Coelho Ranch Foundation recently achieved the Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency, the highest level of recognition available through Candid’s nonprofit profile system. While we are grateful for the recognition, this milestone is about much more than a badge on a website.
For us, Platinum represents a commitment to trust.
As a nonprofit, we believe the community should be able to understand who we are, what we are building, who we aim to serve, and how we plan to steward the ranch for long-term community benefit. Coelho Ranch Foundation exists to serve children, families, caregivers, nonprofit partners, churches, and local organizations by providing a peaceful outdoor place for gathering, learning, restoration, leadership, and connection.

Achieving Platinum means we have taken the time to publicly share important information about our mission, goals, strategies, leadership, and intended impact. It gives donors, partners, grantmakers, and community members a clearer picture of the work we are doing and the values behind it.
That matters because trust is essential in nonprofit work.
When someone gives, partners, volunteers, or invites a group to the ranch, they are placing trust in us. They are trusting that the foundation is thoughtful, organized, responsible, and mission-driven. They are trusting that the ranch is not simply a beautiful property, but a community resource being developed with care and purpose.
The Platinum Seal helps make that commitment visible.
It also matters because Coelho Ranch Foundation is still growing. We are building relationships with organizations such as youth-serving nonprofits, churches, family support programs, recovery and prevention partners, caregiver groups, and community leaders throughout South Monterey County and beyond. We want these partners to know that we are approaching this work seriously and transparently.
Our goal is not to duplicate the work of other nonprofits. Our goal is to strengthen their impact by offering a place where their teams, families, students, clients, and communities can gather in a natural setting. The ranch can support field trips, retreats, outdoor classrooms, family days, caregiver respite, leadership development, equine experiences, sensory exploration, and moments of peace that are often hard to find in everyday life.
Transparency also helps us stay accountable.
By clearly stating our goals and strategies, we are creating a standard for ourselves. We are saying publicly that we intend to steward the land responsibly, develop accessible and purposeful outdoor spaces, create flexible programming, prioritize safety and hospitality, and measure impact through relationships, partner feedback, repeat use, sponsored events, and stories of transformation.
That is important because the ranch is not being built for one person or one organization. It is being built to serve the community.
We hope our Candid Platinum profile gives people a simple way to learn more about the foundation, understand our direction, and feel confident engaging with us. Whether someone is a donor, nonprofit leader, church partner, parent, caregiver, volunteer, or community member, we want them to know that Coelho Ranch Foundation is committed to openness, responsibility, and service.
This is just one step, but it is an important one.
The Platinum Seal reflects where we are today and points toward where we are going. We are continuing to build partnerships, improve the ranch, welcome community groups, and create meaningful outdoor experiences for people of all ages and backgrounds.
At the heart of it all, our mission remains simple: steward the land well, serve the community faithfully, and create a place where people can gather, heal, learn, and grow.
