There is something special about spending time with a horse.
Horses have a unique ability to slow us down, encourage us to be present, and teach us lessons about patience, trust, communication, and confidence. Over the past several years, visitors to Coelho Ranch Foundation have experienced the joy and peace that comes from connecting with animals and nature. Now, we are excited to take that experience one step further.
Beginning this fall season, Coelho Ranch Foundation plans to launch the Equine Connection & Youth Development Program, a new initiative designed to provide youth and families with meaningful opportunities to learn, grow, and connect through hands-on experiences with horses.
The program will offer small-group sessions focused on horse interaction, personal development, and outdoor learning. Participants will have opportunities to brush and groom horses, learn about horse behavior and care, practice leadership and communication skills, and participate in structured activities designed to build confidence and emotional awareness.
For youth seeking volunteer and community service opportunities, the program will also include hands-on stewardship experiences that support the care of the ranch and its animals while earning valuable volunteer hours.
Our vision is simple: create a safe and welcoming space where young people can develop life skills, build positive relationships, and experience the healing power of nature and animals.
The program is being developed in partnership with local organizations and community leaders to ensure it meets the needs of youth throughout South Monterey County. Initial sessions will be intentionally small, allowing participants to receive individualized attention and meaningful engagement.
As with all programs at Coelho Ranch Foundation, this initiative reflects our mission of creating opportunities for connection, growth, and belonging for individuals and families throughout our community.
