Ruth’s Art Park and Trail Loop

Where Creativity Meets Nature

Nestled among the oak trees and rolling landscapes of Coelho Ranch Foundation, Ruth’s Art Park invites visitors to pause, reflect, and experience the connection between art, nature, and personal growth.

Inspired by the vision and generosity of Ruth Coelho, the Art Park serves as an evolving outdoor gallery featuring sculptures and installations designed to spark curiosity, conversation, and inspiration. Each piece has been thoughtfully placed within the natural landscape, allowing visitors to experience art in a setting that encourages reflection and exploration. Presently there have been two of twenty-four pieces donated to this art park for those in South County to visit and enjoy.

Veiled Venus Brazen More Installations Coming Soon
Veiled Venus

Artist: Stephen Kaltenbach

The first installation in Ruth's Art Park, Veiled Venus invites visitors to consider themes of identity, transformation, and perspective. Positioned among the oak trees, the sculpture creates a striking contrast between contemporary art and the timeless beauty of the natural landscape.

Brazen

Brazen, statue of two legs outdoors

Artist: Stephen Kaltenbach
Installed December 12, 2025

The second piece donated to the art park, inspired by Percy Bysshe Shelley's poem Ozymandias, Brazen explores the impermanence of power, achievement, and human ambition. The sculpture's fragmented form echoes the poem's image of "two vast and trunkless legs of stone" standing alone after the passage of time has erased a once-mighty empire.

Kaltenbach invites viewers to reflect on the fleeting nature of status, influence, and accomplishment. What endures is not power itself, but the stories, ideas, and values that survive beyond any individual generation.

Ozymandias

by Percy Bysshe Shelley

I met a traveller from an antique land, Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert.... Near them, on the sand, Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown, And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on those lifeless things, The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed; And on the pedestal, these words appear: ‘My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!’ Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away.”
